Crassa tinctella?

hi, caught this last night. I had C.unitella previously but this one seems to lack the yellow head - maybe C. tinctella?

  1. Think you've got a little caddisfly there. Plenty about at the moment. BW, Marc

  2. I agree. They are distantly related to moths (Trichoptera = hairy-winged as opposed to Lepidoptera = scale-winged) and it can sometimes be a bit difficult to differentiate them when they're this small. If you've got the micro-moth field guide (Sterling et al), have a look at pages 28 and 29 of the introduction.
