It's sad - I know!

Up here on the hill I've had the trap out six times in December and once so far this year - total catch- Nil! So when I saw this little fellow on the bathroom wall I just had to have a go at trying to identify it. There's only so much reading a chap can do!. I came up with Eudonia angustia. My first query of the year!.

    Hi Steve, not a moth I've seen, but it looks more like a pyralidae, maybe Ephestia kuehniella?

    Hi Steve, I agree with Darren that this looks more like an Ephestia or related species. Unfortunately they can be quite difficult to ID without dissection. Those whose larvae feed on stored food products like flour or rice, etc can appear at any time of year and are quite often found indoors.
