Is this first one Roeslerstammia erxlebella? (6.5mm in length). If so is it unusual for this area?
The others are less interesting but I would just like to check.
1. Possible Cydia splendana. (8mm)
2, One of the Dioryctria group? Is it possible to be any more specific?
3. Possible Gypsonoma dealbana (7mm).

Hi Andy, yes to R. erxlebella, though I don't know how unusual it is in your area. The second looks like Cydia fagiglandana. I'll leave the third and the last is G. dealbeana as you say.

ReplyDeleteI think Roeslerstammia erxlebella is reasonably common locally wherever there's lime. I agree with Adam that the second is Cydia fagiglandana (a beech feeder), and the next is Phycita roborella with those thickened bases to the antennae. The last one is a Gypsonoma but might be a candidate for sociana as it doesn't seem to have much brown in the colouring, just black and white.
