Barnaby. Having had a close look at your picture and various reference resources I think your picture is Phalonidia manniana, whose larvae feed on water mint which I guess will be in your area. Only 15 Bucks records most of which are from the North of the County.
Thanks both - I did not keep the moth. After tips on this site I tried to use a grey background and am pleased that the photos were good enough for Martin!
Looks like one of the Phalonidia group. Did you keep it?
