more moths

Beginning to get more species of moths but small numbers of any one species. 1 each of privet, Lime and Small elephant Hawk moths in last 2 days. Cockchafers far out numbering any one species of moths; 7 or 8 in last few nights.

Grateful for help with moths below.

  1. Alan, I think the first two are Turnip Moth variants

  2. I'd also go with Turnip on the basis of the neat fringe and I think the last one is a Caddis Fly - but wait for the experts before accepting my IDs!

  3. Many thanks both. Last one I should have put size on; about 3 mm (Body length) by just shy of 1mm. Looked to be scaled. Alan

  4. I agree the first two macro images are Turnip, then Lesser Treble-bar, Seraphim & Mottled Pug (not Ochreous). The first micro has lost too many scales to be sure of the ID but it might once have been Hofmannophila pseudospretella (Brown House Moth). The second is, as Mark says, a micro caddis.
