The Oak Nycteoline is especially welcome as it's our 400th species in the garden! -- I think it may be some time until we reach 500.Steve Goddardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09378327709782910963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789886813706673673.post-72991212590376498092014-03-16T23:20:09.769+00:002014-03-16T23:20:09.769+00:00Thanks for the correction Mike, I had a feeling I ...Thanks for the correction Mike, I had a feeling I was barking up the wrong tree on that one!Martin Harveyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02548201025682845702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789886813706673673.post-39405776123957113762014-03-16T22:53:55.778+00:002014-03-16T22:53:55.778+00:00Martin, the other is Acleris hastiana

But the only thing I can suggest for the other two is ... Oak Nycteoline! It is an extraordinarily variable moth, and there are forms that have the brown streaks that yours is showing, but I must admit the way it is holding its wings looks a bit odd, and was it really much smaller than the first one? If so then maybe I'm overlooking some other possibility?

See: http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=562Martin Harveyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02548201025682845702noreply@blogger.com
