Ditto on Chocolate-tip; and a little more micro action

Like Marc, we had, in a fairly sparse catch, our first Chocolate-tip of the year last night, although I entirely failed to get a photo. The only real ID question of the catch was the micro below, which I'm assuming to be our first Eudonia angustea of the year - like yesterday's Epiphyas, I imagine it's the first of many... Steve and Xander Goddard.

  1. Hi Steve,

Looks very much like angustea to me. Chocolate-tips are fantastic aren't they? BW, Marc

  2. Lovely, compact little moths, which don't look like anything much else! And one of the classic moth names, too. Yes, we like Chocolate-tips.

  3. Hi Steve,

Confirmation of your Eudonia angustea from Peter Hall - he's in India at moment and asked me to add this. He spoke with John Langmaid who said that angustea has been recorded as early as February and April records are fairly common.
