Pug for help

As with many people, a slightly better night in Garsington (though I have not run the trap much this year), with a ghost moth the first for two years. But these pugs I am finding really tough - help please and any advice on why it is what it is, gratefully received!
Many thanks,
Andrew Callender

  1. Looks like a Mottled Pug to me - you can tell by the two streaks going outwards on each wing. I'm catching a lot of them at present.

  2. Indeed it is Mottled Pug. A good one to become familiar with, Andrew, because I expect you'll see quite a few and the marks which Adam has mentioned make it stand out from the more difficult pug species.

  3. Thank you both! Obvious now (I think!).
