Andrew I can't make it a White-speck from you picture. It doesn't seem to have the diagonal dark streak at the wing-tip. Do you have a picture showing the flat forewing? The specimen would be better still. Very few records for Bucks, far less than White-point. I hope you might still have the specimen!
I let it go sadly. I will look at the other photos which were not so good. The bright light obscures the darker areas. The one thing it didn't have was a black chevron on the underparts. The moth was also much more elongated in shape.
Hi Andrew, I am by no means an expert, but I do get a lot of White-points in my garden and I would say that your specimen looks very much like a White-point.
Interesting - how do you distinguish it from the White-Point?

ReplyDeleteThis is a White-point. I did have a White-speck over the border in North Wilts last week though, so they are around.
