Unidentified moth from my kitchen ceiling
Would appreciate some help to identify this, taken in my kitchen in Culham yesterday. It's about 1cm long. It's similar to a Nettle Tap, but is clearly different.
I agree, Duponchelia fovealis, a pest species that gets imported every now and again. There was a time when sightings needed to be passed to DEFRA's Plant Health people, not sure if that's still the case.
Thanks Peter and Dave. A foreign import didn't occur to me and I was a bit bewildered that something so distinctive didn't feature in any of my books. I checked DEFRA's website and they seem reasonably relaxed about Duponchelia.
Have you been down the Garden Centre Will? I looks like Duponchelia fovealis, which is an adventive.
