Zelleria hepariella

A few moths at last now the snow has nearly gone and night time temperatures are finally above freezing.

Last night's catch included this which I think is Zelleria hepariella. 6.5mm in length.

  1. Hi Andy, that is indeed Z.hepariella, a nice catch. It is surprising that it isn't seen more often considering how widespread the food-plant (ash) is in our three counties. I've had about a dozen records but only one of them as an over-wintered specimen and that was ten years ago now.

  2. Thank you for the confirmation. There are a couple of large ash trees about 10 metres from where I run the trap so I should get the ash feeding species.
