New for my Mursley garden

Trapped last night in order to show the visiting grandchildren some moths this morning. These two were new for my garden, if I'm right.  Acrobasis suavella at the top, followed by two shots of Kent Black Arches. Plenty of others to show the kids.

  1. Hello Mick, you are almost there with the top one - it is actually Acrobasis advenella (the red head is the most obvious feature which helps to ID this particular species). Kent Black Arches was once a rarety but is now in danger of becoming a really common moth!

  2. Kent Black Arches is having a good year: A week ago it was quite possibly the most common moth at a SW Herts site I was trapping at (I wasn't counting so no precise figures). And someone has just reported 5 in one trap at Broxbourne in east Herts.
