Pyrausta aurata and September Thorn?

I don't know if a determination of Pyrausta aurata can be made from the photo?

The thorn I assume is a Septermber rather than August Thorn.

  1. Hi Mark, the aurata/purpuralis conundrum can only be resolved safely by a view of the hind-wings. However, as has been mentioned on here before, this can be achieved from simply looking at the underside so put the moth in a pot and refer to:
