Heart and Club vs. Turnip
At the moment I'm having both species at the same time and with their large variance of colours am having some trouble telling the difference on some examples. Am I alone and is there a certain way to get it right?
Hi Steve, for what it is worth the last time I saw Heart & Club was on 5th July and it seems to be well over here. In fact looking back, the last time I saw Heart & Club in August was in 2005 (5th August that year being the latest I've ever seen one). I would suggest that you are currently seeing Turnip Moths which this year are around in large numbers just now and are very variable in both size and markings.
Thanks Dave I have been having problems. The books tend to point to the fact that the Turnip does seem to be less chunky and slightly longer but many of the salient points do seem to be similar.
