Pugs and a Caddis

From last night's catch a couple of pugs for advice and also what I assume is a Caddis with very distinctive markings.

Both pugs had a wingspan of approx. 20mm. The Caddis was 18mm in length excluding the antennae.

  1. I would say your caddis is Glyphotaelius pellucidus - male. The wing shape narrows down the possibilities and the markings and timing (slightly early) are correct and it is a common species.

  2. Not sure about the pugs, Andy. From the photo the second one looks to me like Oak-tree and I would have said the same for the first based on colouring and shape but on that one the discal spot isn't as obvious as I'd expect.

I agree with Martin on that very distinctive caddis. I had my first pellucidus of the year here on the 18th so they're definitely about now.

  3. Thank you both for your replies. I don't think I have seen this caddis before.

  4. Thank you. I do still find the pugs difficult.
