2 Pugs for ID

Just starting to try and ID pugs. Both of these last night, just outside Oxford. I think the bigger one might be Mottled, the smaller one (sorry no size) Double-striped?

Also got my first Lime Hawk here - the village is full of Lime, including one next door, it's taken 5 years to get one!

  1. Hi Mark, I agree with Double-striped Pug for the upper one, but the lower looks like Common Pug to me.

  2. Incidentally, Lime Hawk seems to be in a bit of a decline here even though we have a lime in the garden, limes surrounding the adjacent churchyard and quite a few others dotted around the village. Up to 2007 I was getting half a dozen per year but then things started to go downhill and I count myself lucky to get one now. None appeared in the garden trap in 2008/10/12/14/18. Last year I saw just the one specimen in Bucks, at Calvert Jubilee.
