Much more like it in terms of numbers here in Longwick

Managed just under 60 species here last night ( which is pretty good for this location). Another Cinnabar is part of a good run of them recently. A light Arches and Brown Rustic were new for the year as were Hawthorn Moth and opostega salaciella. There were two Diamond Backs so a hint of the exotic.

Below are a few queries - firstly a Bucculatrix (possibly Nigricomella) (W/L 4mm), secondly a cochylis - possibly cochylimorpha straminea (W/L 9mm)? Finally a presumed dodgy Flame Shoulder with the wear and tear making it look interesting? ( well you can dream!).

Seeing Dave's Clearwing reminds me I had a Red Tipped yesterday in the pheromone trap.

  1. Not sure what the first one is, Andrew, but it isn't Bucculatrix nigricomella. The other two are indeed Cochylimorpha straminea and a tired Flame Shoulder.
