Bernwood Forest, Bucks

A single MV trap run at the turning circle in Shabbington Wood for the usual three hours last night managed to pull in more than 100 species but they didn't include the target, Triangle, which to date I've only had at one spot this far east in the forest.  However, five examples of the nationally scarce Small Black Arches did appear, as did Lappet (1), Cream Wave (3), Scarlet Tiger (4), Black Arches (15), Rosy Footman (4) and Dotted Fan-foot (2) amongst many others.  It was also good to get a nice variety of hawk-moths, with Pine (5), Eyed (1), Poplar (2) & Elephant (8) all entering the trap.  Thankfully it wasn't inundated with Tortrix viridana and Archips xylosteana, both of which seem to be on the wane now, and the most numerous moth proved to be Acrobasis repandana with about 70 recorded.
