Clouded Border aberration or something quite different
This settled on the lintel of my garage a couple of days ago in the afternoon. The wing markings look similar to Clouded Border but are continuous. Unlike Clouded Border however the body is pure white. Can anyone offer a view?
Another distinguishing feature between this and Clouded Border is that perspectalis is at least twice its size! I think it is safe to say that this invader from the Far East is now our largest micro-moth. There is also an (almost) all-black form to look out for which occurs quite regularly.
Hi Terry, do you have any Box plants? It's Cydalima perspectalis.
ReplyDeleteA neighbour planted box some weeks ago. They will be 'pleased'!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your help.
