Tortrix

Hi,

This is my first blog post here, so hello.

Nearest I can get to this is Epiblema grandaevana, but that doesn't seem right to me. Never seen anything like it here in Botley, Oxford. Caught 10th July in MV trap next to a small park in Botley. Habitat doesn't seem quite right  to me though...

  1. Hello Richard,

That looks to me like Phtheochroa inopiana. It used to be rare locally but suddenly exploded in numbers at the beginning of this decade and could now turn up anywhere. Your image is a very good match for the field guide illustration, although most of those I see are even more plain in appearance (if that's possible!) and the reticulation towards the termen is either difficult to see or non-existent.

    ...and welcome to the blog!

  2. Thank you Dave, that makes much more sense!
