Deep-brown Darts?

Pretty sure the one on the left is - but is the other also a Deep Brown Dart rather than a smaller worn Black Rustic?

  1. Hi Mark, they're both Deep-brown Darts.

  2. Indeed they are, and in this case the antennae of the one on the right is a dead giveaway - male Black Rustic doesn't have visibly feathered antennae like that. It can sometimes be tricky to tell them apart, though, especially when Black Rustic is getting a bit long in the tooth (as it is now). In damp conditions it does lose its "shine" as well as the white outline to the kidney mark, so it can need a bit of care to tell them apart. However, the overall size and shape (Black Rustic has a longer wing) is normally sufficient to separate them.
