The year-list continues to grow

Further new species have continued to roll in for the Westcott garden year-list although the results here haven't been quite as exciting as elsewhere!

(8th)  Least Black Arches.
(9th)  Ypsolopha mucronella, Mompha epilobiella, Agonopterix arenella, Alucita hexadactyla, Chinese
          Character, Purple Thorn, Pale Mottled Willow, Nut-tree Tussock.
(10th)  Caloptilia semifascia, Elachista canapennella, Brindled Pug, Oak-tree Pug, Muslin Moth.
(11th)  Pseudoswammerdammia combinella, Common Pug, Scorched Carpet, Brimstone Moth.
(12th)  Epinotia immundana.

A Phyllonorycter also appeared on both the 9th and 10th (probably the same species each night) but it will need to be given microscopic examination to be sure of the identification.

There was nothing at all unexpected amongst the above moths and, of course, last night's catch was well down on the previous few nights thanks to the drop in temperature due to that strong NE wind.  I've continued to use two traps but, here at least, the actinic is still out-performing the MV.  I'm sure that'll change as the season progresses.
