Help needed with 2 micros

I managed to pot two small micros at home yesterday. The first flew in from the garden and I managed to pot it before it flew out again. The forewing length is 6mm.

The second was flying around just outside my back door, and the forewing length is only 4mm.

Any help with identifying them would be much appreciated.

  1. Hi Steve,
The first seems to have lost too many scales to be 100% sure but looks like Nemapogon cloacella. The second is a Mompha and to me has a hint of langiella about it which would probably be quite a good record. Do you still have it and if so could you add a side view?

  2. Thanks Dave for your help. I think the Nemapogon could be cloacella or granella - the latter has appeared several times before. I will retain it, as well as the Mompha, which if it is langiella would be new for the garden.
