Help with ID
Hi all, it has been such a long time since I have posted on here but I'm still continuing to moth trap and enjoying it just as much as ever!
I caught this moth on Sunday night and wondered if it is a Square Spot or Engrailed?....or neither! Sorry that the photo isn't great.
Hi Lorna Well, it does look good for Square Spot to me but I'm hardly an expert on this species as I've only seen it a handful of times here in Bucks and some of those were in such poor condition that they had to be dissected to tell what they were! I'm sure Martin will confirm, though. If correct it is likely to be a very good record for Oxfordshire, so (hopefully) well done!

Wonderful thanks so much Dave, fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteHi Lorna Yes that's a Square Spot. Its local in woodland in the county. Records from about a dozen sites. Best wishes Martin
ReplyDeleteFantastic news! Thanks Martin.
