Amongst last night's garden pugs was this nice fresh female Sloe Pug. At first glance they look similar to the much more common Green Pug, especially around the trap at night, but in daylight it becomes clear that the green colouring is a different shade and there's usually an obvious salmon-pink band around the top of the abdomen. Despite being common it isn't seen all that often as an adult and certainly isn't a regular here (last recorded in 2017) despite all the blackthorn within our garden and in the local area. It is certainly one to keep an eye out for now.

Last night's much-improved collection of moths (36 species) also included
Depressaria radiella,
Bryotropha affinis,
Hedya pruniana,
Crambus lathoniellus, Blood-vein & Clouded Silver which were new for the garden year-list. Numbers of Treble Lines are growing with 34 appearing.
