Red Underwing? Moth Night no. 3
I think this is a Red Underwing rather than the Dark Crimson I got last year. Bigger, greyer and distinctly red rather than pinking when it escaped the net. Whatever it is it was very welcome.
thanks Dave. Really struggling with the camera I have. It's set to adjust to make the photo brighter as the photo is taken, I then brightened it again and it's still no good.
Technology isn't my strong point either. Perhaps it is worth having a Clifden Nonpareil-sized container immediately to hand every time you go through the trap. That should cover most eventualities!
That's a very dark image, Mark, but I think that what's visible of the fore-wing markings does seem to favour Red Underwing.

ReplyDeleteI did, plus a net but even though I used the net I still lost it.
