Some queries

I have built up a little list of queries and would be very grateful for help. I like to have a stab at micros which I cannot really match with pictures in books or on websites, but I am usually wrong.  Much appreciate all assistance.  Martin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon

Hedya salicella?

Cydia servillana?

Apotomis turbidana?

I fear too worn to be ID-ed

Can you have a Snout without a Snout?

  1. Hello Martin,
The first is indeed Hedya salicella and the next one is Cydia splendana. I'm not sure about the third, it doesn't look like an Apotomis species to me and I think it might well be Hedya nubiferana. Your "too worn" macro is Brown Scallop, while the answer to your final question is "yes"! Palps often suffer damage and Snout is particularly prone to losing them. Your example must simply have had such a mishap.
