Unsure about this.
I had this moth in my trap in Beenham Berks last night. It had the shape of a small Nut-tree tussock but I can't seem to pin it down. Any help appreciated.
Despite looking quite distinctive in the photo, I'm afraid nothing springs immediately to mind for your moth. It seems to have rather odd proportions and I wonder if it might be something on which the wings haven't quite reached the correct size? Certainly one to hang on to for Martin H to see and pronounce on - it might be much easier to ID from the specimen itself rather than just a single photo.
Unfortunately it has already been released. I did wonder about an aberrant Mottled Rustic. Certainly the head and thorax look out of proportion to the rather stunted wings? Thanks for trying.
