ID help, pleas
This distinctive-looking golden-headed little moth looks familiar but my searches of books and internet have been in vain, so help would be appreciated.
Hi Richard. That's Spuleria flavicaput. The specific name means "yellow head". I've only ever caught a single individual, but I remember that identifying it took a while!
Hi Richard, Tim is correct. The image in the micro field-guide is a reasonable representation of it so I'm surprised you missed it there. There are about a dozen widely-spaced records for Bucks (...four of them from your garden!) so I suspect it is under-recorded.
Thanks Tim and Dave. That's rather embarassing! I certainly should have remembered it, having seen it before, or at least found it in the field-guide. Must be getting senile.
