Initially overlooked as a grass veneer, this smart little moth was tucked away in a recess of an eggbox. Unfamiliar at first, it looks very much like Orthotelia sparganella - I guess a reasonable scarce garden record in North Bucks.
I don't know if the worn tortrix is identifiable - in life it looked to be dark speckled. I had a couple of guesses at Id, but will keep quiet for the time being!

ReplyDeleteOrthotaelia sparganella is very nice as a garden record! I've had it here a couple of times but it is really a wetland specialist and I don't see it very often at all even in the correct habitat. I wouldn't offer a definitive verdict on your tortrix because it is so poorly marked but at a guess, based on shape and general appearance, I'd say Zeiraphera isertana is quite likely.
