Dusky Clearwing to TAB lure (in bucket trap) at Tubney, VC22 found today (approx. 2.30 pm) 25th June. Trap had been checked twice daily since Monday 19th and was previously checked on 23rd.
As "Tubney Wood" was the last place it was reliably recorded in the 20th century, it seemed the appropriate place to start!
Now to find it in VC23

Fantastic news!! I'm now even more sure than I was before that it has just been operating under our radar for the last hundred years or so. Someone saying that they think a species is extinct is enough to put people off looking for it, especially when the far easier method of locating the moth via pheromone lures is a very recent thing.
