Westcott, Bucks

There's been little to report from the garden during the first half of July thanks to us being away in Portugal for the first ten nights of the month - it seems that the weather was dire back here for much of that period so I doubt that very much was missed.  Overall catches now are still as poor as they were for much of June and, even taking into account my absence, the species count (especially for micros) is now falling behind where it should be in what is theoretically the busiest month of the year.

     (12th)  Acleris variegana, Endotricha flammealis, Catoptria falsella, Sallow Clearwing (daytime, to lure), Dingy Footman, Dark Spectacle

     (13th)  Agriphila straminella, Least Carpet, Small Scallop, Magpie Moth, Bordered Beauty

     (14th)  Acleris forsskaleana, Shaded Broad-bar, Canary-shouldered Thorn, Brown-tail, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing 

     (15th)  Ypsolopha dentella, Batrachedra praeangusta, Choreutis pariana, Eudemis profundana, Pammene fasciana

Choreutis pariana (15th) is only a very occasional visitor to the garden and was the first to be recorded here since 2021.  It is usually a day-time flyer but this rather poorly marked example came to the actinic light trap.
