Hornet Moth
For those who like to look for this handsome beast, the season seems to be under way. I haven't seen an adult locally yet this year but a search of some black poplars near Grendon Underwood, Bucks this afternoon produced this freshly-vacated pupal case in typical position just a few inches above ground level at the base of one tree.
