A few in the garden...

...or rather the dining room. MV light in the dining room, french doors open, stops the light annoying everyone!

59+ species attracted this way, quite a few new for the year list including Scythropia crataegella (not surprised about this one, one of my cotoneaster bushes is covered in webs!), Small Emerald, Bordered Pug, Barred Straw, Common Footman, Swallowtail, Udea prunalis, Phoenix and Barred Red.

  1. Must be good for the neighbours, but the downside is that you get a house full of flies, bugs, wasps, water-boatmen, etc!!

  2. I couldn't give a flying one for the neighbours, but an MV on the patio shines into our own bedroom window, which is annoying :) And in fact the levels of non-lep insects was pretty low; a few ichneumon/crane fly type things. And there's not too much leakage into the rest of the house.
And lastly, this was how I first discovered moths as a kid, leaving a light on in my parent's sitting room, although I remember a lot more Garden Tigers than I ever see these days.

  4. Memories - I remember tigers and magpies in your sitting room in Chalfont (we didn't know about micros in them days). Good grief that was 40 years ago - ouch.
