The garden adult moth year-list has now reached 130 species for 2019. Thanks to the vagaries of the weather the list has gone from being 38 ahead of 2018 (as of 30th April) to 10 behind (as of 18th May). No matter, I'm sure it'll all even out in the end! New arrivals here recently have included Common Swift & Spectacle (both 8th May),
Esperia sulphurella,
Dichrorampha acuminatana, Lesser Treble-bar & Setaceous Hebrew Character (all 9th May),
Scrobipalpa acuminatella & Maiden's Blush (both 10th May),
Glyphipterix simpliciella & Puss Moth (both 12th May),
Tinea trinotella (13th May),
Evergestis forficalis & Rustic Shoulder-knot (14th May), Heart & Dart (16th May),
Lathronympha strigana,
Crambus lathoniellus & Common Marbled Carpet (17th May),
Ephestia unicolorella, Silver-ground Carpet, Pale Oak Beauty, Clouded Silver & White Ermine (all 18th May). Nothing surprising at all amongst that selection and on the 11th I was lucky not to draw a blank thanks to a single very hardy Brimstone Moth!
