Hi Iain, This is actually a Pale Prominent its quite common and rather distinctive once you get your eye in. The Great Prominent is a rather different looking beast, much scarcer and flies earlier in the year. Have a look at Hants Moths - The "flying tonight" section is great for seeing what is likely to be around.
