Pinion-spotted Pug

This was a nice surprise this morning (in Worminghall). A first for the garden.

  1. Thanks Dave! How rare is it locally?

  2. It is classified as "Nationally Scarce". Your sighting appears to be the 24th for VC24 (11th post-millennium). The records show no hot-spots and they've come from all over the county, suggesting that it is fairly widespread but quite good at avoiding being seen. The text-books agree, saying "rarely encountered".
