A pug or not a pug?
Hi there,
Found this is the MV trap the other night. Size and shape (more or less!) of a pug, but can't find one with that central cross-band. Sort me out, please!
Hi David, as Keith says, it appears to be an unusually-marked Ochreous Pug; but having said that, the original illustration of this Pug (by Hubner in 1813) does show two paler crossbands in approximately the same positions as on your Pug (see the Lepiforum website, which also shows some other variants with the whole basal region darker: https://lepiforum.org/wiki/page/Eupithecia_Indigata).
Hi David, I would check out Ochreous Pug, with the bold, fat spot and angled wings, but not 100% confident.
