Raspberry Clearwing

One to HYL lure some time this afternoon between 13:00 and 16:00. Not really expected, but I have been trying for some time now with the lure near half-a-dozen rather spindly canes of (probably) wild raspberry. The next nearest raspberry canes to our garden must be miles away, so it's fascinating to speculate how it got here and how far it travelled.
This is the ninth clearwing species for the garden.

  1. I tried HYL and VES in the garden here this afternoon. Nothing to HYL but I did get a Yellow-legged Clearwing to VES at 4.10pm (saw it arrive) which was nice. That was only the third garden record after one in June 2014 and another in July 2019, not a surprise as there are very few oaks in the immediate vicinity. I'd almost given up hope of getting one this year...
