I'm not sure if I'm out of practice or just not very good at micros - probably both! These two turned up last night - the white spots on one are confusing me as is the shape of the costal patches on the other. Help?
Hello David, They are both either Acleris ferrugana or Acleris notana but need dissection to get safely to species. I suspect both will be ferrugana, which is by far the most common locally, and you've unfortunately managed to find out just how variable they can be! If not dissected they are still worth recording as the aggregate "Acleris ferrugana/notana".

I should have guessed! Thanks, Dave.
