A couple of micro queries

The micros seem to have been matching the macros in terms of numbers during this warm spell, which is good but also a bit of a challenge trying to identify them all.
Here are a couple I would like help with. The first has some nice orange patches and the fw length is 5mm.

The second I thought might be Acleris comariana (Strawberry Tortrix)?

  1. Hi Steve, the first is Clavigesta purdeyi and the second is one of the Acleris laterana/comariana pair. Unfortunately they do need dissection to safely separate, especially if you are trying to claim comiarana which is far less common in our area than is laterana. Your specimen does look as though it could be a good candidate for comiarana though.

    1. Thank you Dave - the Clavigesta purdeyi is a new moth to me and I didn't see it in the guide book. I have retained the Acleris specimen.
