Thinking out of the (egg)box

Two useful reminders overnight not to think just of the light-trap and its eggboxes: our first 'wild' moth of the year, a Dotted Border spotted by my wife Penny who is the expert at such detection, on our front door beneath a weak but working outside light.

And then this morning, a second DB which was in the brambles beside my Robinson trap (which only contained a solitary Common Quaker inside).  Martin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon

  1. You've done better than me then, Martin - still not had a moth in my garden trap here in Aylesbury (not for want of trying!)

  2. I'll see if I can get any to fly your way - though they've only been coming in ones and twos on the whole. Isn't this new blog a good idea. I feel a lot safer about getting my rather scattergun IDs safely corrected. All v best M
