A "late" Brick at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve

A Happy New Year to everyone and may the moth gods be with us all in 2020.  Robinson traps were  set in my garden in Newport Pagnell and at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve last night and they yielded 4 moths one of which was this Brick which was at LLNR.  I note the comments made a a week or so ago about late ones turning up.

The others were 2 Mottled Umbers and at home just 1 moth on the shed door, a Pale Brindled Beauty.  I have been running the trap at LLNR through much of December, low numbers, below 10 and comprising December Moth, last on 21st, Mottled Umbers, Chestnuts and Dark Chestnuts, Winter Moths, Scarce Umbers , a Satellite and 1Pale Brindled Beauty on 27th.

  1. A Happy New Year to you too, Gordon. I've nothing of interest in the garden over the last week or so, a Red-green Carpet on the 24th being the only moth that wasn't either Winter Moth or Mottled Umber (one of each here last night to see out the decade, along with a half-grown noctuid caterpillar which I haven't yet identified). Tonight and tomorrow night look quite promising temperature-wise so hopefully those of us still putting the traps out will get off the mark for 2020 straight away!
