COAM Leaf MIne

After Mr King's post the other day, I had a quick look at some of the Field Maple on the COAM site, and found this.

To my eyes, this does look like a mine of Stigmella aceris, but I would appreciate the opinions of those who know more about these things!

  1. No doubt about it, Dave. A good find - well done!

  2. Thanx Dave!

It was at the farthest side of the site from Shire Lane (where Andy found his) and there is a lot of Field Maple in between so I wouldn't mind betting there will be more!

  3. Just wanted to add that I had another look at the mine today, and noticed that there were 2 more possible mines on the same tree, but not as long as the above one.

By "tree", it is little more than a sapling, about 4ft tall...
