  1. Small Brindled Beauty, Steve. Even without knowing the size the first give-away is that when at rest the wing leading edge has the impression of being slightly concave (as in your picture, but isn't shown on the images in the field guide). That's an even better garden record in my opinion because Small Brindled Beauty is mainly a woodland moth!

  2. Thanks Dave, Thought I'd got one right but not quite!. Still your suspicions were correct as I see that the flight time for this moth is earlier.
