Bug

Still very quiet for moths in Tackley, Hebrew character, few common quakers and spring ushers and, what I think might be, a dock bug Coreus marginatus?

Alan Diver,
Tackley.

  1. Hi Alan, the picture is rather dark but to me it looks more like Gonocerus acuteangulatus, the Box Bug, which was once quite rare but is now widespread in our area. Check out the "pointy shoulders", the colour of the antennae and the shape/markings of the connexivum (keel around the abdomen). I've had it regularly in the garden at Westcott since 2007 - and we've got no box at all!

  2. Hi Dave,

Following you're advice, think you're right. Sent new post. Don't seem to be able to add pics to replies. Probably user error!
