The first garden December Moth of 2022 turned up here last night. Despite all the wind and rain it was accompanied by a reasonable selection of other species, including Udea ferrugalis, Nomophila noctuella, Red-green Carpet, November Moth agg., Feathered Thorn, Turnip, Large Yellow Underwing, Merveille du Jour, Blair's Shoulder-knot, Sprawler, Satellite, Beaded Chestnut & Barred Sallow.
December Moth, Westcott 2nd November |
I saw my first December Moths of the season in Yardley Chase, close to the Northamptonshire border, back on 27th October and several more in Bernwood Forest two days later, so it should be starting to appear everywhere now.
