Plumed Prominent

I trapped at Warburg last night with 3x 125w Robinson MV and an 8w actinic, from 17.15 to 20.45 when the moon pretty much killed it. There were 17 Plumed Prominents, all males. 19 species, including a late Metalampra italica and 2 migrants, Plutella xylostella and Nomophila noctuella.

  1. Nice total! I should have mentioned that mine the previous night were, as usual, all males too. I've only ever had one female to light (in 2015) but then again I've never stayed anywhere beyond 9pm. She laid some eggs which were sent to the late Reg Fry to try and rear but I don't think he managed to get them through the winter.

Singletons of Metalampra italica appeared in the garden here on 29 Sep, 19 Oct & 23 Oct so it seems to have had an extra brood this year.
