I found a Cydia pomonella (Codling Moth) perched on the inside of my front door this morning. I guess this very mild December is confusing a few species.
Cydia pomonella is certainly a bit of an oddity in December. There are still a number of more seasonal moths around, though, and I had Blastobasis lacticolella (1), December Moth (1) & Winter Moth (3) to the actinic over here in Bucks last night, while even the Rothamsted trap at Marsh Gibbon managed December Moth (1), Winter Moth (1) & Dark Chestnut (1). The warm weather is forecast to stay with us until the weekend with Wednesday night looking about as close as we could get to a heat-wave in December!
