My wife (the moth finder general) then found what I assume is Acleris ferrugana or notana in the house and then what I think is a Grey Shoulder-knot on the doorstep.

Hello Mark, I suspect your Acleris is schalleriana but it is not well marked and would need the chop to be sure. Grey Shoulder-knot is correct and must have been tempted out of hibernation.
